I grew up with tech, but only got serious about it in early 2017. That's when I started learning about Bitcoin, Blockchain, and everything related. In the following year after having gone down the rabbit-hole, I turned my attention to Self Sovereign Identity.
I got serious about tech in 2017, and began learning about Bitcoin, Blockchain, and everything related, seeing great opportunity amidst all of the confusion. In the following year after having gone down the rabbit-hole, I turned my attention to Self Sovereign Identity.
I realized the potential of this technology, when first learning about the Sovrin Foundation, and Hyperledger Indy. I arrived with perfect timing to contribute to this information ecosystem, and help to spread the word about decentralized identity and Verifiable Credentials.
Inspired by @peacekeeper's [blockchain-identity](https://github.com/peacekeeper/blockchain-identity/) list on GitHub, I began working on my own **curated list of resources related to decentralized identity**.
I saw that decentralized identity has a deep historical context, and saw its potential for being _the_ blockchain use-case, beyond currency.
From the amount of information spread across the web, but not really indexed well, I knew this community had a need for organization of it's information, and that I could find my way into some profitable ventures doing so.
From the amount of information spread across the web, but not quite accessible to the uninitiated, I knew this community could appreciate aggregation and organization of its information ecosystem.
## Get Involved
What began as a single page of links in a Readme file on GitHub, has grown to become the largest web-directory for information related to Self Sovereign Identity.
In 2018, I connected with Kaliya @identitywoman who has ever been working on similar efforts, to map out the organizations and protocols surrounding decentralized-identity.
## Identity Woman
She became something of a mentor to me, in this field, and editorial advisor for this site.
In 2018, I connected with [Kaliya IdentityWoman](https://identitywoman.net) who has ever been working on similar efforts, to map out the organizations and protocols surrounding decentralized-identity.
Juan @by_caballero has gotten his hands dirty working on this site and related projects, sometimes assisting in curation.
She became my guide through the vast web of connections and associations with SSI, and became an editorial advisor for this site.
A few others have become friends to this effort, even if they haven't physically contributed to the site. Among them [Kyle Den Hartog](https://kyledenhartog.com/) supported some of my early work curating peer-to-peer histories, which may eventually be adapted for this site.
### Identosphere
In 2020 we launched a reboot of the original identity management feed aggregator [planetidentity.org](https://web.archive.org/web/20161029051802/http://planetidentity.org/).
* [Early Internet History](https://bitcoinfo.xyz/history/early-internet/)
* [Peer to Peer rEvolution and Histories](https://bitcoinfo.xyz/peer-to-peer/)
The [Identosphere Blog Catcher](https://identosphere.net/) aggregates hundreds of RSS feeds, with pages for personal, business, organization, and web3 blogs.
The landscape is moving quickly, and so I'm just filling out and discovering a map of the territory, as able.
Once the feed aggregator was established, we began a weekly newsletter called [Identosphere's Weekly Digest](https://newsletter.identosphere.net), using the Blog Catcher as its primary source, along with a weekly twitter search.
The idea has always been for this to be a collaborative effort, and you are very welcome to participate in the creation of this resource.
## Getting an Upgrade
## Contributing
If you'd like to participate, feel free to reach out on twitter>@DecentralizeID, by email (nfo@infominer.xyz), or send a carrier pigeon according to the customary protocols.
### Edit this page
You can always [find us on GitHub](https://github.com/Decentralized-ID/), and contribute directly, but you may find these instructions helpful to get started.
There is an "[Edit this page](https://github.com/Decentralized-ID/decentralized-id.github.io/blob/master/_posts/2020-01-10-welcome.md)" button at the bottom of each page. This makes it easy for you to get started adding a link here and there, needing only a [GitHub](https://github.com) account.
#### Make a change and [create a pull request](https://docs.github.com/en/free-pro-team@latest/github/collaborating-with-issues-and-pull-requests/creating-a-pull-request).

Now with over 2 years of content collected in the newsletter, we've begun to bring in that content to this directory, upgrade the processes by which its stored and displayed, while improving all of the old-outdated content that was created as I was first learning and establishing these processes.
